This creation of Tereza Kolontai is an experience in nature and culture. The reserve of Tauã is amazing due to its biodiversity and it is very interesting scientifically,culturally, conservationistically, artistically and even spiritually.
Over 300 butterfly species and 60 kinds of birds inhabitate this protected area. There are also some native species such as cachorros-do-ma-to, macacos-prego, cotias, tatus, among others.
The great flora attactive are the Bromeliads. 40% of the 1,300 species of bromeliads that exist in Brazil are at the Tauã Reserve. Apart from being a living paradise, the reserve has a fossil beach (from the years 4,500 and 7,500 BC), and the Casa da Reza, that is a reconstruction of a native hut, the Casa de Farinha (taken from a XIX C estate) and the Art House, home of the collection of Tereza and where the works of other artists of the region are exhibited.
The reserve is open from 8 a 18 , and the tours must be made with a tour guide ande previous reservation.
