The whole area of Búzios is ideal for diving and exploring underwater. The average temperature is around 22° C, This, together with an extremely crystal-clear sea make this area one of the most chosen places by diving amateurs and professionals from all over the world.
Búzios was, at first, a fishing village. The whole area is very rich in sea fauna, and fishermen usually come from their boats with a smile.Although the vessels are not basic, Buzios is also a good spot for the practice of coastal fishing.
Geribá is the favourite of young people, it is also the most sophisticated beach and the most explosive one for the practice of surfinges . Tucuns, together with Geriba, is also a beach to recommend but it is dangerous because of its treacherous currents. Praia Brava lives up to its reputation and it is a highly acceptable spot, with a good swell.
At Manguinhos, Geribá, Tucuns and especially Rasa, there are a lot of spots for the practice of nautical sailing sports. Mainly windsurfing, but also laser or kitesurfing (see apart) are practiced in this area. A professional windsurfing championship takes place in June, its date is validated by the Brazilean Circuit (CCFW).
Praia Rasa and Manguinhos are the ideal spots for kitesurfing because of the constant wind. Though new, this sport has many followers in Búzios, and there places that rent the equipment and schools that give lessons. This can be a new activity to develop in holidays.
The options are appropriate for those that seek for adrenalin, such as lover of wakeboarding or for those that simply prefer to go on a boat trip. There are also trips in Banana Boat, and the different degrees of agitation depend on the passenger. jet skiing is forbidden in Búzios, except in Praia Rasa and do Canto.
The peninsular topography offers paths and crossings that are very appropriate for people with aventure spirit. You can discover desert beaches with natural pools, or get dream pictures. At the Tourist Office you will be informed about the most salient journeys.
Good options to vary a little, although they are not the most chosen in Buzios are the practice of conventional sports. There are several tennis, paddle and squash courts in the peninsula, and you can also go horse riding, take swimming lessons or go to the gymnasium.
